ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS
MECHANISM OF ACTION
Anti-wrinkle injections involve the use of a prescription only medication called Botulinum toxin which acts to block the receptors of a targeted muscle of facial expression. This results in relaxation of the targeted muscle & consequently less dynamic effects to the overlying skin. This prevents repeated creasing of expressive facial lines. In people who have developed resting facial lines the injectable can help to soften the appearance & slow down progression into deeper lines.

WHAT DOES THE TREATMENT INVOLVE?
A thorough consultation will be performed in clinic to determine the most suitable treatment for you. All relevant information will be provided to you & a cool-off period offered. If you decide to proceed with the treatment a series of small injections to the targeted muscle will be performed. There is minimal discomfort & the procedure takes a few minutes to perform. There is no down time following the procedure.
It can take anywhere from 3-10 days before the effect of the treatment starts to become apparent. Maximal effect will be present at around 2 weeks post-treatment. All patients are offered a complimentary top-up at 2 weeks time following a review. If appropriate this will be performed at your review appointment.
